What is a Nanny?

Nannies are expected to undertake responsibility for the total care of infants and children.  Their duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Dressing and bathing
  • Meal and bottle preparation
  • Supervising play activities and/or making a play schedule
  • Children's washing and ironing 
  • Ensuring the child's wellbeing
  • Keeping the children stimulated and constructively occupied during waking hours

Time off for standard salaried jobs is a minimum of 2 days a week, nearly always on weekends. Evenings are generally free although residential nannies should expect to baby-sit on occasion.

Live Out Nannies are the most common choice for childcare in your own home although it is the most expensive option. However the cost reflects the quality of the childcare, as daily nannies tend to be older and consequently have more experience. Salaries are approx. $450-$750/wk or $10-18 per hour according to age and experience. This is based on the nanny working Mon-Fri and 8.5 hrs per day.

Live In Nannies are an alternative option who provide flexibility for families who require early starts or late finishes. Salaries are typically less as they reflect that they live in your home. The salary range is approx. $300 - $550/wk  or $7-12 per hour according to age and experience. This is based on the nanny working Mon-Fri and a maximum of 10 hrs per day.

Part-Time Nannies typically work 10-24 hours per week and on specified days. This is a great choice for parents who may not need full-time care, but would like a little time to get stuff done.  These nannies are generally paid on a per hourly basis of $12-15/hr. as they generally come with higher education and a broader supervision of the children than a babysitter would.

Salaries are totally dependent on a nanny's age and experience and Loving Arms, LLC will advise on the realistic remuneration obtainable by each individual applicant.
