How to Hire a Nanny

 Here is what you can expect during your search for a nanny with Loving Arms, LLC:

Step 1. Call our office for an email addition of our application (941-359-4889) or Complete our Online Application and Submit it to our Office. We will contact you to confirm the details.

Step 2. Set up a family interview. Pay your non-refundable retainer fee of $200.

Step 3. Start interviewing candidates.  Interview as many as you like, (subject to availability) to feel comfortable hiring that perfect person. The interview process generally goes like this: 1) Do a phone interview...ask general questions such as: Why they want to be a nanny, What hours are they looking for and How long they are willing to commit. If these answers sound like what you are looking for and you get a good feeling from the candidate on the phone you can proceed to step 2) In Person interview.  Meet the candidate without the child(ren).  Ask more detailed questions and explain what you are seeking.  If this interview goes well and you are thinking of offering this person a position, proceed to step 3) Have the candidate over for a "play date" with the child(ren).  Watch how the candidate relates to the kids.  Does she get down on the floor or stay on the couch.  Does she initiate ideas for play or does she wait for the kids to interact with her. These are great tale-tale signs of how the nanny will be when you are not around.  Also watch for your child's reactions to the candidate...kids have an innate since about things. 

Step 4. Hire your chosen candidate.  Sign a Family/Caregiver contract and pay the final fee (the second half of the agency fee, see contract for details)  prior to the caregivers first day of work.

Our fees include:

  • Qualified candidates who have been telephone screened, personally interviewed, and reference checked.
  • Criminal background check for each state the candidate has lived in in the last 7 years, preformed at time of job offer. 
  • Unlimited support, questions, consulting, etc., prior to a hiring decision. 
  • A 90 day guarantee period.
  • A follow up approximately 45 days after original start date in order to see how the new employee is integrating into new situation.  Any relevant issues should be discussed with Loving Arms, LLC at that point.

Once you are ready to make an offer of employment, we will conduct:

  • DMV check in state where candidate holds a drivers license.
  • Criminal background check in all states where the candidate has resided in the last 7 years.
  • Social Security number verification, includes an address history search. 
  • National Sex Offender Registry search.

 

This information is usually available within 48 hours.

Loving Arms, LLC reminds parents that they are totally responsible for all hiring decisions.  Even though we guarantee replacements for employees who don't work out, it is impossible to guarantee the actions of any person - even those who have undergone every type of reference and/or background screening.
